X9 Web Hosting was founded in the UK in 1998 and then opened in Dallas two years later. We saw demand for a dependable and reliable yet low cost web hosting service and developed an affordable budget hosting model. This was during a time when a web hosting account was not cheap. Some firms in the UK were charging as much as £160 a year, and resources were not plentyful either, at best you got around 50 Mb of disk space with 500 Mb of traffic.
Our Mini Virtual Server came with similar resources, but it was the cheapest fully featured production status shared hosting package in the world at the time and was sold for only £10 a year.
How did we do it? Working with Designer Servers, dsvr.co.uk in early 1998, the first virtual vps product was born, way ahead of its time, using a clever software based solution to split an off the shelf dedicated server into 16 virtual servers, each with its own login. This enabled us to commit ourself to much lower fixed costs which were scaleable as our business grew, without the burden of running a costly data center. Over the years, many copied us and eventually the vps became a known Internet product.

How long has X9.NET been around, compared to other webhosts?
The folks always ask us this question and it is understandable. They are worried about the security of their online business. Their website provides them with a living and they just cannot put that to chance!
With full reseller hosting accounts now being offered for just a few pounds, unscrupulous folks may be drawn into this industry to try and make a fast buck and then walk away from their customers when they realise that this business actually requires hard work. We advise you to always carry out a Who-Is lookup on their domain when looking for a new web host. Because it helps to know how long a host has been in business.

Yes, they could help with making a decision. But hosting customers almost never send an email saying how happy they are with their service. In general, the only time a web host gets an email from a customer is when something is not working or there is some kind of problem. We do have some testimonials but we do not publish them because most people will not believe them. Normally, web hosts just make them up.
